The Grey Snow Community was proud to participate in the recent Reservation Economic Summit (RES), an event that brought together over 5,000 individuals from across Indian Country.
A diverse group from across Grey Snow’s family of companies was in attendance, building connections and highlighting economic development initiatives for the coming year.
It was a 3-day sprint of meetings, networking, and business development sessions. So, before all that begins to blur together into a fond memory, here are the key highlights the Grey Snow team experienced during the summit.
Celebrating Culture & Connection
RES is always a powerful gathering. Not just for the business opportunities it presents, but how our culture is celebrated—from art and music to the clothing and way everyone holds themselves. It was truly beautiful and inspiring to see such a vibrant display of Native identity.
This representation extended to the vendor area, where it was less about promotion and more about connecting. Our presence there provided an incredible opportunity to connect with attendees and share Grey Snow’s mission, services, and business initiatives.
Visitors left with not only valuable information but also wildflower seeds, supporting our ongoing commitment to natural pollinators and biodiversity.
Advancing Digital & Energy Sovereignty
Workforce development is a critical focus for us this year. And it was incredible to have somewhat of a launch party for our growing training programs—initiatives that are critical in supporting economic and technological independence for Native communities.
We showcased our Fiber Academy, which supports Tribes in building digital sovereignty by training a skilled Tribal workforce in broadband infrastructure development and maintenance. We also highlighted our Solar Academy for the first time, which provides workforce training for planning, building, and maintaining Tribal-owned energy grids.
The response to both of these programs showed how much of a priority professional training is becoming for Tribal leaders. There’s a recognized need to build up the capabilities of Tribal members, and we’re thrilled to be a driving force in this space.
Building Relationships & Strengthening Partnerships
Grey Snow hosted a well-attended social mixer in partnership with TEPA, a company owned by the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians. With over 100 attendees, this gathering was a highlight of the week, allowing for meaningful conversations and relationship-building in a relaxed setting.
Which, let’s be honest, after days of being on your feet, is a welcome reprieve.
Throughout the summit, Grey Snow staff and Board members engaged in numerous meetings with private companies interested in partnership opportunities as well as Tribal leaders seeking support from Native-owned businesses like ours.
It was also a joy to reconnect with Ioway friends and relatives from both the Kansas and Oklahoma Iowa Tribes. And I’m thrilled to say these engagements have already led to several agreements and mutually beneficial relationships that will directly support our expected projects for the remainder of 2025.
Additionally, Grey Snow staff supported the Ioway Bee Farm and the Center of Excellence for Regenerative Native Agriculture (CERNA), both of which were featured as vendors, showcasing innovative and sustainable Native-led initiatives.
Looking Ahead
This is just a brief glimpse into everything that happened at the 2025 Reservation Economic Summit. And what’s truly special about this event is that it isn’t over. It’s a springboard for our professional development programs, partnerships, and growing connections across Indian country.
RES reaffirmed the strength, resilience, and focus of our community. Grey Snow remains committed to fostering connections, supporting Tribal sovereignty, and expanding economic opportunities for Native communities. We look forward to building upon the momentum of RES and continuing to make a positive impact across Indian Country.
